What's the difference? Well, we're often asked for an estimate or 'an idea' of how much a repair or restoration may cost. An 'Estimate' is different to a 'Quote' and we'd like to explain the difference and encourage anyone to call to discuss or clarify further.
Our 'Estimate' is a free service, involving our calculated approximate costing with our judgment based on comparable previous works and the related costs these prior works have incurred. An 'Estimate' is a verbal indication or approximation of the cost of services and works to be performed and is GST exclusive.
A 'Quote' is a firm price, which for a small fee, will be confirmed in writing and which may be proportionally deducted against restoration work performed from that quote. A 'Quote' is a binding contract between the client and ourselves with a firm or fixed outcome and price for the service to be performed and is GST inclusive.
A Quote is great for a client wanting a fixed and firm price. Clients not having utilized our services and skills before, are generally more comfortable with a 'Quote'. If a written quote is requested, we do charge a fee but the fee is fully deducted proportionally against any work we carry out from that quote. The Quote Fee is effectively used as a deposit on the restoration work.
It is unrealistic to expect us to supply an estimate from viewing
a small image on a digital camera or mobile phone, so please either
print a hard copy of images for discussion or send an email with the
images attached. We are often able to supply an Estimate from photo's but as photographs do not show the level of work that may be required, we're only able to offer an estimate until the item can be physically inspected.
From time to time we're able to supply an estimate after discussing by phone, depending on the work that may be involved but remember, it's only an estimate and will be confirmed once the actual item has been inspected.
Call 9889 4984 to discuss if you qualify for a free on site estimate or to make an alternative appointment.
