Each piece taken into our workshop, is treated as an individual item.  All work options that may be required are thoroughly discussed with our clients before commencing work.

Should our clients expectations of results be unrealistic or even risk devaluing the item, we take the time to discuss and advise accordingly.

We also offer a considerate and empathetic advice with regard to options and alternatives for special pieces inherited from a family or friend.  For sentimental reasons clients often choose to proceed with work that may cost more than the piece would achieve if it were then sold once restored.  Wendy & Sheridan Brown have done this to a few of their own pieces and not all were of sentimental value!  What we do remind our clients is that sentimental value and importance can often be more than an items actual value, but if you're given honest opinions at the outset, an informed decision can then be made.  The flip side are the clients who request an item they've inherited be restored even though they don't like it or have no use for it.  In this instance we suggest they sell the item and buy something more personal and to their taste to better remember and reflect the person.

Should a client request restoration work undeserving or unbecoming to an item, we offer options for consideration and thought. 

Our Specialist Antiques Cabinet Maker will endeavour to use timbers and methods from the same period as each piece being repaired and restored, to ensure the work is as sympathetic as possible.  We try to use the same technique each item would have been made by, many skills of which have been used for hundreds of years.

With our skilled craftsmanship, a little time and much care, we're able to provide a true and correct repair or restoration service, resulting in a finished product on which the work done is often hard to detect, just as any good restoration should be.
